The first day I dropped off the flowers to my neighbor Jane. Jane is a lovely lady who loves flowers too! She called me a few days later and said how delighted she was to get the flowers and how it meant so much to her. It creates so much JOY for me to hear the stories.
I was dropping off some more flowers to another 93 year old AMAZING woman called Nan.
I walked down the steps to her house on a Beautiful sunny day. I knocked on her door and she was this darling well dressed adorable woman who came to the door. I wanted to cry right there and then. I said, My name is Heather and I’m a neighbor and my friend Molly gave me your name. I wanted to drop off some flowers for you to have. She said, “Oh Great, I’m having a dinner party tonight for my daughter and granddaughter and it will be a perfect centerpiece. Ok, now I was crying. SHe was this amazing woman and I wanted to spend the rest of the day getting to know here. I promised I would come back. She teaches Calligraphy and it’s on my list of things I want to learn. I hugged her and walked up the steps and felt so much JOY in my heart. I got to my car and tears of Joy fell down my face.
The next week, I dropped off some flowers for an old neighbor who I use to see all the time. But since we moved, I haven’t seen him much. He is 88 years old and from Chicago. (I’m from Chicago, so of course I adored him. He has a garden full of flowers and fruit trees. He use to come by with lemons and drop them off at my old house. He didn’t answer when I went to his door, but I called him a few minutes later and left a message. He called me a little while later and was THRILLED of the flowers. He has been a bit under the weather and they brightened up his day.
